PRACTICAL GUIDE

Baby yoga: preparing for a first session

Ana Brites, the teacher you will arrange your session with.

Before booking baby yoga, check the session’s age range, how the caregiver participates and what happens in the meeting. The activity’s name does not answer those questions. This guide helps you prepare a conversation with me without offering exercises to reproduce with your baby at home.

Clarify who the session is for

The first question is whether the available session matches the age range and format you want. Ask me directly about the ages and type of meeting we can arrange.

It also helps to explain what you imagine: time for you and your baby, a meeting with other families or an individual activity. Those are different expectations. The conversation establishes whether the available offering matches what you want, rather than fitting every request under the same label.

You do not need to decide everything in your first message. Begin by asking about ages, location and times. Contact me to find out which locations and times are available for baby yoga.

Ask how the accompanying person participates

The caregiver’s role should be clear before booking. Ask who can accompany the baby, how many adults can be present and how they take part. Do not assume the session requires a particular family member or allows extra caregivers without agreement.

If your main aim is to return to your own practice after giving birth, say so. A session called baby yoga is not automatically a postnatal class for the adult. We can distinguish the request so you do not book an experience different from the one you had in mind.

NHS information about activity after birth concerns adult recovery and does not validate exercises for infants. Questions about your baby’s health belong with their healthcare professional. Your baby’s healthcare professional remains responsible for clinical advice and follow-up.

Prepare the journey and equipment

Ask for a list of what to bring to the particular session. Confirm what the venue provides and what the accompanying person should supply. That answer is more useful than buying equipment recommended for a different kind of class.

Ask about duration, access to the room, space for belongings and arrival arrangements. If you will bring a pushchair, check the entrance and where it can be left. Those conditions cannot be inferred from a studio’s name; we need the confirmed venue first.

Tell me whether you prefer Portuguese or English for instructions and conversation. You do not need to stay uncertain because you worry about interrupting. Questions about equipment or access can be settled before leaving home, particularly if you are arranging transport around the session.

Leave room for the unexpected

Check how pauses, late arrivals and changes are handled beforehand. The logistics of going out with a baby can change, and knowing the terms before booking is useful. I do not promise one universal policy for every venue or format.

Ask what happens if your baby needs care during the meeting and how to communicate with the person guiding it. You do not need to predict every situation. It simply means arriving with an understanding of how to ask for a break or clarify a question.

If your baby needs a break, let me know. Before the session, ask how we can make room for feeding, nappy changes or other interruptions.

Enquiry and booking

An initial message should name the service you want and practical preferences for place and time. Do not send your baby’s clinical information, intimate photographs or health documents through the form. Medical questions should go to the appropriate healthcare professional.

Before paying, confirm the format, intended age range, included participants, duration, price and terms. General Ericeira Pole & Aerial passes are not a baby-yoga price list. Ask me for the price of the session you would like to arrange.

An automatic email acknowledgement is not an enrolment. Wait for the details to be answered before travelling. If you would like to join with another family, ask whether that is possible; do not expand the group without confirmation. You can also decide not to proceed after receiving the information.

Plan the first journey

Check access before travelling with your baby. Ask whether there are stairs, where a pushchair can go and how to find the entrance. With those details, you can plan the journey and choose the most convenient venue.

Make a short list with the confirmed address, contact details, requested equipment and the things you normally take when going out with your baby. You do not need to buy a special kit before knowing what the session involves. Also ask what to do if something unexpected prevents you from attending.

One possible message is: “Hello Ana, I would like to know more about baby yoga. Could you confirm the age range, how the caregiver participates and the available location?” We can agree the remaining details after that. Avoid posting your baby’s routine or unnecessary personal information in a public comment.

Common questions

What is the minimum age?

Confirm the age range with me for the available session. I do not publish one minimum age for every format, or treat age alone as an assessment of suitability.

Can another caregiver come?

Ask before booking. The number of adults and how they participate need to be part of the agreement. That establishes the actual group size and the venue arrangements.

Is there an open weekly group?

Ask me about upcoming baby-yoga sessions and the age range for each gathering. We arrange the location and time directly.

Can I repeat movements at home afterwards?

Ask me for individual guidance before repeating movements with your baby.

Do Ericeira passes include this session?

Do not assume so. Passes shown elsewhere belong to the studio and named category. For baby yoga, confirm the specific price and booking with me.

Your next step

Start by asking about the available meeting and its age range. Knowing who participates, where and on what terms is useful preparation for a first session.
