PRACTICAL GUIDE

Before your first prenatal yoga session

Ana Brites, the teacher you will arrange your session with.

To prepare for prenatal yoga, discuss suitability with your maternity care team and the class format with me. Then we agree the practical details. This guide helps you ask questions before booking; it does not prescribe postures by trimester or replace individual assessment.

Before booking prenatal yoga

Choosing a class does not replace a conversation with the professionals caring for your pregnancy. I teach prenatal yoga, but a service description cannot determine what is suitable in your circumstances. Take health questions to your maternity care team and ask me about the session details you need to understand.

NHS guidance recommends telling the person leading an activity that you are pregnant and stopping if you feel uncomfortable or unwell. General recommendations are not individual clearance for every practice. The choice of movements should reflect your situation and your maternity care team’s guidance.

Yoga can be part of your routine alongside maternity care. Your clinical team remains the point of contact for questions about symptoms and preparing for birth.

To discuss a session, explore prenatal yoga with me.

Ask what prenatal means in this session

Confirm the actual format instead of relying only on the name prenatal yoga. Ask whether the available option is individual or group-based, how it is guided and what needs agreeing before participation. There is no fixed prenatal group advertised here for every venue.

My general Ericeira and Lisbon classes have their own pages and timetables. That does not mean a pass from either venue includes a prenatal session. A place in an aerial class does not demonstrate availability in a pregnancy class, either.

You can ask about my training background and experience relevant to the format you want. General information on the About me page should not be interpreted as a clinical qualification. I want your choice to rest on details you understand, rather than assumptions about a class label.

Venue, time and travel

A useful time is one you can attend without an unnecessarily difficult journey. Tell me where you would like to practise, your preferred language and the periods when you are available. We confirm the actual options before you decide.

If you are considering home or online practice, ask whether that format is available for your prenatal enquiry. Offering general private sessions in those formats does not mean every specialist request can be accommodated in the same way. Keep the question specific to the session you want.

Ask about duration, access to the venue, included equipment and change arrangements. Confirm the exact meeting point with me before travelling.

Questions before your session

A short list of questions is more useful than rehearsing postures to get ready. Ask how instructions are given, how to communicate a pause and what you need with you. You do not have to study movement names before our conversation.

If you saw a video and want to understand how it relates to the session, ask without assuming the movement belongs to the offering. A general yoga video or an image of suspended fabric is not a demonstration of suitability during pregnancy. Keep those categories separate when browsing the gallery.

Use the form for contact details and practical preferences only. It is not the place for clinical reports or sensitive information. We can agree an appropriate way to clarify what is needed; your healthcare professional can advise whether exercise is suitable for you.

Check the agreement before confirming

Confirm the format, date, venue or online connection, price and applicable terms in writing. If something remains unclear, ask before paying. An automatic reply to the enquiry form simply acknowledges receipt of your message; it is not a place in a class.

We agree the price of your prenatal session together. Ericeira Pole & Aerial prices belong to that studio’s passes and are not a tariff for every service I offer. Ask for a specific proposal or confirmation for this session.

If your circumstances or availability change, speak again before attending. You do not have to maintain a decision just because you have started looking. Preparing may also mean choosing to wait or seeking another kind of support. There is no deadline created by making an enquiry.

Prepare the conversation without sharing clinical records

Your first enquiry can stay practical. For example: “Hello Ana, I am looking for prenatal yoga and would like to know which formats are available. I prefer English, mornings usually work for me, and I would like to agree the details before booking.” This starts the conversation without examinations, reports or a medical history.

Keep practical questions separate from health questions. I can discuss the meeting, language, equipment and arrangements with you. Your maternity care team can advise on clinical pregnancy questions. You do not need to combine both conversations in one email or send documents to demonstrate your interest.

Keep the reply showing the format and details we agreed. Contact me again if something changes before the date. Revisiting the arrangement is preferable to arriving at a session that no longer matches what you had in mind.

Common questions

Must I already practise yoga?

Tell me your experience so we can discuss the format. Being new does not, on its own, answer the question of suitability during pregnancy. That conversation also belongs with your maternity care team.

Is there a right week to start?

I do not publish a universal rule. Your circumstances, clinical guidance and the session format need consideration. Ask before booking and do not use someone else’s starting date as individual advice.

Are aerial and prenatal yoga the same class?

No. They are distinct offerings. Ask specifically about prenatal practice so we can agree a suitable format.

Can I request English?

Yes, I am bilingual in Portuguese and English. Include your preference in the message. Language is one of the details we agree alongside format and availability.

Does the form request medical information?

No. Send contact details and practical preferences only. Avoid diagnoses, examinations or reports. An initial message can simply ask about prenatal yoga and available times.

Your next step

If you are looking for pregnancy yoga, begin with a question about the format. With clear details and appropriate care, you can decide your next step without rushing.
